All those who misappropriated billions of naira of Nigeria's money
through the NNPC should be read to face the music as plans have been
concluded to start prosecution of all such big thieves.
This was said by President Muhammadu Buhari, according to his spokesman, Femi Adesina.
“We know your stand on corruption, and we are grateful. Your continued
cooperation in curbing oil theft from Nigeria will be appreciated,”
Buhari told President Xi Jinping of China.
President Buhari, who said this on Sunday in New York at a meeting with
the Chinese President, added that his administration is determined to
sanitize Nigeria’s oil industry and make it free of shady deals.
The NNPC under the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan
was involved in several shady deals, many of which have been cancelled
by Buhari. Also, Jonathan’s Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke,
has been allegedly in hiding, since Buhari was sworn-in as president.
But President Buhari has assured that there will be no hiding place for anyone who stole Nigeria's money.
