New Ooni of Ife speaks Out for the First Time

The Ooni-elect has spoken out. Yesterday, it was announced that Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi will be crowned as the New Ooni of Ife. He was suddenly thrust into the international spotlight with all eyes on him.

Strong lady! A suspected armed robber is now in police net in Benin, Edo State, after the lady he attempted to rob disarmed him. The victim, a female newscaster with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), was said to have given the suspect, identified as Stanley, the fight of his life when he tried to rob her.

The strong lady succeeded in collecting the robber’s pistol from him.
The suspect was handed over to policemen from Oba Police Station, Benin. During interrogation, Stanley mentioned names of his gang members. The police went after the gang and arrested five members. The leader of the gang is, however, still at large. The newscaster, who wished to remain anonymous, said she went to Benin from Lagos, for a wedding when the incident occurred.

The Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko has described as embarrassing, the Saturday October 24th judgement of the Rivers state election tribunal which nullified the election of Nyesom Wike as governor of the state. Mimiko gave his reaction to the judgement while speaking with journalist in Akure, the Ondo state capital yesterday October 26th.

A Spanish flamenco singer could hardly contain her emotions after she met Pope Francis at the Paul VI Hall ahead of his visit to a large Roma gypsy camp in Italy. There is a silent uneasiness within the Lagos state Civil service over a letter sent by the newly appointed commissioner for Youth & Social Development, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf (left) to the office of the Chief of Staff demanding that she be addressed using her professional title as a Pharmacist.

Diamond Platnumz wins Best African/Indian Act at the 2015 MTV EMA

Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz won the Best African/Indian Act award at the 2015 MTV EMA which took place in Milan last night. He beat African musicians including Nigeria’s Davido and Yemi Alade, SA’s AKA and Ivorian DJ Arafat as well as leading Indian musicians to win the MTV prize.

Minister-designate, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, of diverting a N45bn loan his administration took. He revealed this on Sunday at a thanksgiving service organised to mark the October 25 Supreme Court rulung that made him governor in 2007.

He said, “I borrowed N300bn and I paid N245bn back and I left about N15bn. But now, they are not borrowing to pay contractors. Rather they are borrowing for themselves.

“Borrow to pay contractors not for your purse. They have borrowed N45billion and nobody is seeing it. If you put N45bn in the state economy, the state will be bouncing. They will employ more workers, pay them and you will see things working.”

A graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Babatunde Fatai, who is about to begin the mandatory national youth service programme, said he posed as a genuine lover to defraud foreign women and men whom he met on dating sites.

Fatai, who has been arrested by the Oyo State Police command for various Internet crimes, including hacking into bank accounts of many people in and outside Nigeria, had once been arrested for robbery and arraigned in court but granted bail.
